The New York City Health Department says avian influenza, best known as bird flu, was confirmed in two cats and suspected in another. The NYC Health Department is warning pet owners not to feed their cats a raw food diet. According to the department, all of the affected cats were fed the same brand of raw pet food. There have been no confirmed cases of the bird flu spreading to dogs, but veterinarians warn people to be cautious because the virus has the ability to mutate.
