Orban accuses the EU of abusing its power in fiery speech commemorating Hungary’s Independence Day

On Saturday, Viktor Orban held a speech at an Independence Day rally commemorating Hungary’s revolution against the Austrian Empire on March 15th, 1848. Orban accused the EU of "abusing" its authority over Hungary, comparing it to how the Austrian Empire once controlled Hungary under its reign. He also labelled journalists and foreign-funded NGOs "bugs". Hungary is a member of the European Union, yet is at odds with some of the EU’s stated policy positions.
