STORYLINE:
Andreas Kronthaler is keeping his late wife Vivienne Westwood’s legacy alive and well, as evidenced once again on Saturday afternoon at the brand’s FW25/26 ready-to-wear show at Place Cambon in Paris.

Even an unexploded WW2-era bomb discovered on the rail tracks north of Paris on Friday couldn’t keep the team from crossing the Channel in time for the show.

Vivienne Westwood was the original punk, beloved by musicians, and today’s front row shone with musical artists including Chappell Roan, and Abigail Morris and Georgia Davis from The Last Dinner Party.

The runway was also a mix of ages and genders, wearing a collection that was an unmistakable mix of Westwood and Kronthaler: romantic, sexy, punky, daring, at times humorous or kitschy.

For the first time, the collection combined the main Vivienne Westwood line with Andreas Kronthaler.

Along with signature elements – draping, tailoring, corsets and asymmetry – Kronthaler introduced themes such as hoods and hats in myriad shapes, neck ties so long they brushed the knee, and cup-like gaps or pockets at the breast or buttocks.

There were sophisticated long wool coats, crazy bronze teddy bear-fur coats, and patterned ski wear that is sure to stand out on the slopes.

The bride wore a dress in semi-transparent tulle with pannier hips that revealed "Andreas" printed knee socks.

Patterns included stars and planets, caveman drawings, large polka dots and a bright yellow Scottish tartan.

Colors hit the entire spectrum from a sparkly black big-lapelled jacket to lilac Yorkshire wool knitwear, pumpkin socks and leggings, and Harris Tweeds in all shades.

The audience applauded enthusiastically as Kronthaler took a bow in a medieval-style hood while handing out yellow spring flowers.
