STORYLINE:
Zimbabwe is submitting an application to join BRICS, the country’s Foreign Minister Amon Murwira said during his visit to Moscow on Thursday.
Murwira was joined by his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov at a news conference, where he announced Zimbabwe’s ambition to join the group.
“BRICS is one of the most important platforms for economic cooperation," he said, adding that his country "would benefit from any system that respects these key principles of human interaction and human progress."
"We’ll be waiting for a reply that is according to the consensus that will be in BRICS,” he continued.
