8. SOUNDBITE (English) Alan Fleming, owner Penny Press Factory:
“A dispenser dispenses a complete cent into the gearbox. And then people turn the wheel, and it takes it from, as you say, the round one to like an oval shape. And it’s a bit like if you were making pizza dough or anything like that and you’re with the rolling pin, that’s the exact same principle and obviously puts an imprint on it.”

15. SOUNDBITE (English) Alan Fleming, owner of Penny Press Factory:
“I think that a lot of the penny presses in the U.S. are still the old fashioned ones, the ones you see like Buc-ee’s service stations or some of the older places, or even in Las Vegas just off the strip. And I think these old, I would say classic penny presses that still need you to put like maybe two or four quarters in and, and a penny and then slide in and use it. And those are the ones that will probably be mostly affected if the government stops making pennies, because customers won’t have any pennies at all.”

“And I hear people say, oh, look, it’s a penny presss, or oh, look, it’s a penny crusher or a penny squisher or like PENNY is the concurrent word that’s always used. So we can’t say it’s a blank crusher or so you know, a memory maker or anything like that.”

21. SOUNDBITE (English) Alan Fleming, owner Penny Press Factory:
“There’s a couple of companies in the U.S., and certainly around the world that can make penny shaped and colored tokens. But then, you know, it’s basically a slug or a blank. So I don’t know if I can reproduce something with. We were thinking about being President Trump’s face on it and says, you know, Trump says no more pennies.”
