“We heard the noise, and we went out. And we saw the two buses smashed into one another. One of the two had crashed on top of a tree and a streetlamp. The bus behind was destroyed, and the driver couldn’t leave. He was stuck inside, trapped by the metal debris, and his face was covered in blood. And the firefighters arrived and cut through the metal to set him free.”

STORYLINE:
Two buses crashed Mondayin downtown Barcelona, leaving over 50 people injured.
The collision took place during the afternoon at the city’s central Diagonal Avenue when a bus carrying Italian students rammed into another one carrying cruise ship passengers from Germany.
Several emergency units arrived at the crash scene including firefighters, medical emergency units and local police.
Four people remained critically injured at nearby hospitals.
Local media said that some of the injured were passers-by who were hit by the front bus as it hit a tree and a streetlamp.
