"You know, the first time I met Aimee, I knew that she was going to be a very, very, very important person in my life. And I think she would say the same thing. And, you know, I’ve had chemistry with a lot of people over the course of my career. But I knew instantaneously that this was a person that we could go anywhere together. And right out of the gate we just became very, very, very close. And trust was an integral part of that process. And we both wanted to honor the story of Rick and Chelsea and found their love to be intoxicating and something that it didn’t exist in time and space the way that we knew it, but was over, I don’t know, a thousand years, if you will, you know. And I felt that way the first time I met her. I felt I had known her, you know, for a thousand years. And I think she felt the same about me. And so we had an incredible dance, the two of us."

(Reporter: "What does it mean to you to see people kind of dissecting your character? They’re like, ‘Is Rick a good guy? Is he hiding something?’ People are coming up with think pieces on how relationships should be based on your interactions.")
Goggins: "Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, you know, I again, Mike chose to photograph this man at this particular point in his life, right? He wasn’t this a month ago. I mean, they don’t live in a relationship that is constantly combative. They’ve been together for, you know, three years, and they travel the world and they have a great time together. There’s a deep, profound love there between Rick and Chelsea and this just so happens to coincide with, you know, something that he found out and reminded him of why, reminded him to ask the question of why he got here and why is he living this life? And is it his fault or somebody else’s fault? And who’s really responsible for that? And the way in which Mike kind of deals with that over the next five episodes is pretty profound. And I will say that at the end of the story between Rick and Chelsea and then Rick Hatchet, and what he has to say about the human experience, it’s really profound."
