"Tod’s once again put the emphasis on artisanal intelligence for its latest collection. Guests at the runway show could watch craftspeople hand-stitching the Gommino car shoe to underline the work behind the trademark leather goods. The show was held inside Milan’s Gallery of Modern Art, which featured a statue of Italian model Carla Bruni wearing a dress fashioned from leather straps. Creative director Matteo Tamburini’s collection was strong on outerwear and featured leather trenches, intarsia, shearling, fur and wool pea coats. Brand founder Diego Della Valle said before the show that machines will never replace the hands of artisans at Tod’s."
