STORYLINE:
Jordanians held a protest on Friday to express their rejection of any displacement of Palestinians from Gaza and the West Bank.

The protest in downtown Amman was organised by the Muslim Brotherhood Party and several opposition parties.

"No to displacement, no to an alternative homeland, no to attempts to build any project to displace the Palestinian people from their land," said Murad al-Adaileh, head of the Muslim Brotherhood Party in Jordan.

U.S. President Donald Trump suggested earlier this month that displaced Palestinians in Gaza be permanently resettled outside the war-torn territory and proposed the U.S. take "ownership" in redeveloping the area into "the Riviera of the Middle East."

Palestinians have made clear they don’t want to leave Gaza, one part of their homeland that remains for them, along with pockets of the West Bank, after the Mideast’s 1948 and 1967 wars.

The protesters in Amman carried anti-Trump posters against and chanted Pro-Palestinian slogans.

Jordan is joining other Arab countries in rejecting any expulsion of Palestinians and reiterating calls for a Palestinian state.
