STORYLINE:
Palestinians in northern Gaza are confronting an apocalyptic landscape of devastation after a ceasefire paused more than 15 months of fighting between Israel and Hamas.
In Jabaliya, families live in tents amid the ruins of their destroyed neighborhoods, struggling against extreme cold, without electricity, water or basic necessities of life.
These tents are hardly protecting people from the wind, cold and rain.
There is a shortage of blankets and warm clothing, and little wood for fires.
The tents and patched-together tarps that families are living in have grown increasingly threadbare after months of heavy use, according to aid workers and residents.
Rebuilding Gaza could cost $53.2 billion, according to a report released last week by the World Bank, the U.N. and the European Union.
The report identified almost $30 billion in damage from the war, nearly half reflecting the destruction of homes.
