"We have not started shooting on location yet. We’ve only been shooting, we haven’t in Altadena. But Altadena was an area that I did not know until Shrinking. And we shoot there a lot and it is the most beautiful neighborhoody, peaceful place. And as soon as I heard that the Eaton Fire was hitting it, my heart broke. Because it’s such a special, beautiful neighborhood, old neighborhood, and people have been there for generations. So it’s tough. It’s really hard to imagine what going on there, what people are going through who live there. It’s heartbreaking. But I hope that we can help be part of the revitalization of the neighborhood whenever we do get back home."

(Reporter: "Season two. I know you said that the writers are on it. Can you give us an update of maybe how far you are on completing some scripts, or when you know production will begin?")
"Yeah. Just finished ten episodes in season two, the writing, but we don’t know yet when exactly we’ll start shooting. But aiming for autumn or winter this year. But who knows, maybe only the studio knows."

5. SOUNDBITE (English) Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, SAG-AFTRA national executive director and chief negotiator:
"Yeah, production levels are definitely down. Although, you know, we did expect that to a certain extent because there was such a gold rush for the streaming world and we all knew that that was going to consolidate. So part of i is that part of it is the economics. And I really don’t think the strikes are the cause of the production downturn. But I do think as far as what we bargained for, especially with respect to AI, our members have a much higher confidence in doing their job that they’re not going to have their image, voice and likeness taken from them without their permission. And some of the language we negotiated has made its way into California law, New York law. There’s a federal bill that’s going to incorporate some of that language. So I think it’s really having an impact, and I’m pretty thrilled with that."

"It’s happened several times, but I was in Puerto Rico recently, and I was there working on a film with Wanda Sykes. And this lady came up and she said, are you Mr. Davis? I said, yeah, and I thought, maybe she’s a producer on the film because we were all in the hotel. She said, I really want to tell you how grateful I am, not only for the show, but for your character. You’ve brought so many laughs to me. But the show is about my profession. She’s a teacher and I get that a lot. And I’ve had that, I had happen to me in London also. Yeah. You see Abbott Elementary, we watch it in Belgium. Yeah. So, so little interactions like that. But the show has meant so much to so many people, and I’m just honored to be a part of it."

STORYLINE:
"Shrinking" star Michael Urie says he hopes the Apple TV+ show can help revitalize Altadena after the devastating Eaton Fire.
The community northeast of Los Angeles was a regular filming location for the show starring Harrison Ford and Jason Segel.
The SAG awards have always made a donation to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation but this year the Foundation’s Disaster Relief Fund will prioritize financial help for members affected by the wildfires in Los Angeles.
