“I think that for the same reason that ‘Stranger Things’ is really appealing, that unconsciously people are attracted to those films from the ’80s because it’s before video games, just before social media is before cell phones, before texting. So if people wanted to be together, they had to be together. You had to get on your bicycle. You had to go for a walk. You had to get somebody to give you a ride to go to somebody’s house and hang out. And it’s a time before cancel culture where, you know, young people make mistakes. They say things that are inappropriate. They do things that are inappropriate. So a movie like ‘Vision Quest’ and the character Louden Swain remind people of that. And it’s somehow very comforting in 2025 to see a young person making mistakes and learning about life and not being punished for it.”
