Alice Weidel is the AfD’s pick for Chancellor – although it’s highly unlikely she’ll get the job. Other parties have ruled out working with the far-right group in a coalition government. The 46-year-old is the party’s co-chair and has a doctorate in economics. As a politician, she’s known for her anti-migration rhetoric. Weidel and the AfD put migration at the heart of their program, pledging to carry out mass deportations and an asylum crackdown. They want Germany to abolish the Euro and potentially leave the EU.
