STORYLINE:
Released Israeli hostage Iair Horn was in a "good" condition and able to focus on reuniting with his family and friends on Saturday, a hospital official said.

Horn, 46, was brought to Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv hours after being freed by Hamas following 16 months of captivity in the Gaza Strip.

The hospital’s deputy director of nursing, Ettie Oziel, said he would need to undergo further tests "in the coming days".

Horn, a dual Argentine-Israeli citizen, was freed on Saturday alongside American-Israeli Sagui Dekel Chen, 36, and Russian-Israeli Alexander (Sasha) Troufanov, 29, in the latest round of exchanges under the Gaza ceasefire deal.

All three men, who had been taken captive in the October 7, 2023, attack which ignited the war, appeared worn but in better physical condition than the hostages released the previous week.

In return for the hostages’ release, Israel released 369 Palestinian prisoners and detainees, including 36 serving life sentences over deadly attacks that were sent to West Bank and Egypt.

The other 333 detainees were sent back to Gaza, where they were received by a crowd in Khan Younis.

Palestinian Authority’s Commission for Prisoners’ Affairs says those sent back to Gaza were detained following the October 7 attack, not charged formally by Israel.
