“The Mountaintop Matrimony is a mass wedding ceremony that takes place at 12,000 feet in Forest Meadow here at Loveland. Couples come to renew their vows or get married, celebrate their love on Valentine’s Day every year. And Mother Nature treated us to some fresh snow to celebrate the day.”

3. SOUNDBITE (English) Sage McCririck, marketing and events manager:
“So in 1991 we had a couple who approached us. They wanted to get married at our Ptarmigan Roost cabin here at Loveland. Loveland being called what it is, it’s a very special place. So they wanted to celebrate their love here. Since then we have grown the event to usually 100 to 120 couples getting married here every year. This year we broke our own personal record with 130 couples registering. So we’re really excited.”

“There’s no one else I’d rather be with. And it’s been fun, like raising our kids on the slopes. And it’s a huge passion of ours, so this makes it even more special.”

9. SOUNDBITE (English) Kelley Wyjad, renewed wedding vows:
“So the veil was actually made by my grandmother and my mom. My grandmother handmade all these snowflakes. And they also made this awesome skirt that I’m wearing in this dress that actually pulls up when I ski so that I don’t trip on my dress. So it’s really special. The original veil, original dress, original flowers.”

14. SOUNDBITE (English) Sage McCririck, marketing and events manager:
“It’s special. One because people love Loveland. It’s their home mountain, and they feel like family. And the tradition of it. They come back year after year. We’ve had couples get married here 20 years ago and come back every year to renew their vows. It’s a really fun, easy way to spend their Valentine’s Day skiing on a beautiful mountain while celebrating their love.”

STORYLINE:
There is nothing like dozens of couples saying “I do” simultaneously to warm the crisp, frigid air that grips the Colorado Rockies in the heart of winter.
At the direction of an officiant, the couples said their vows and smooched and party music played.
They met in 2003 skiing at a different resort in Colorado.
