The US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said that Moscow and Washington want to work towards ending the war in Ukraine in a way that is "enduring, sustainable, and acceptable to all sides". Rubio’s comments followed a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov in Saudi Arabia, with no Ukrainian or European representatives at the table. The two agreed to appoint high-level teams to negotiate an end to the conflict and to improve US-Russia relations. It was the first high-level meeting between the two countries since Russia invaded Ukraine.
