STORYLINE:
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Friday that the Russian military doesn’t target nuclear facilities and charged that the drone strike on the Chernobyl reactor shelter appeared to be a provocation by the Ukrainian authorities.
“There is no talk about striking on nuclear infrastructure, nuclear energy facilities, any such claim isn’t true, our military doesn’t do that,” Peskov said in a conference call with reporters.
“It looks like another provocation, a false flag action that the Kyiv regime likes to do,” he added.
“It’s obvious that there are those inside the Kyiv regime who will continue to oppose any attempts to launch a negotiation process, and it’s obvious that those people will do everything to try to derail this process,” Peskov said.
Asked to comment on Trump’s claim that U.S., Russian and Ukrainian officials will hold talks on the sidelines of the Munich conference, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov responded that “there are no news on the subject of the Ukrainian settlement, we have nothing to say.”
