STORYLINE:
Issa Rae has called off a show at the Kennedy Center in protest of President Trump’s firing of much of the leadership and being elected chair of the center’s board.
The sold-out show was scheduled for March 16.
“Thank you so much for selling out the Kennedy Center for An Evening with Issa Rae,” the actor who stars in ”Insecure" announced Thursday in a statement on her Instagram Stories.
“Unfortunately, due to what I believe to be an infringement on the values of an institution that has faithfully celebrated artists of all backgrounds through all mediums, I’ve decided to cancel my appearance at this venue.”
Rae’s decision comes soon after the resignations of Ben Folds, artistic adviser of the National Symphony Orchestra, and Renée Fleming, an artistic adviser at large.
