The M23 rebel group took control of a second major city in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. Unlike the deadly fight for Goma in January, M23 met little resistance as they took Bukavu, which lies about 100 kilometers to the south. The Congolese government says the rebels are a Rwanda-backed group set on securing valuable minerals in eastern Congo for Rwandan export. Rwanda has denied being affiliated with M23.
