European leaders have been holding an emergency meeting in Paris concerning their role in Ukraine, amid fears that they can no longer rely on their security alliance with the US. Germany’s chancellor said that Europe will keep supporting Ukraine, and that peace terms cannot be dictated to Kyiv. He also said he was irritated about talk of sending peacekeeping troops to Ukraine, saying it was premature. French President Emmanuel Macron called the meeting after the Trump administration left the Europeans out of direct negotiations with Russia on ending the Ukraine war.
