"The Hamas militant group says it is delaying the next schedules release of Israel hostages from captivity in Gaza. Now this does not mean an end to the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, but this is by far the biggest test so far to this fragile deal. The two sides agreed last month to halt their fighting, 15 months of fighting for a period of six weeks. They are now halfway through that deal. And during this time Hamas is to release a total of 33 Israeli hostages in exchange for about 2,000 Palestinian prisoners. Israel also has committed to flooding Gaza with large amounts of humanitarian aid and also to allowing hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, displaced Palestinians to return to what remains of their homes."

Israel denies these allegations, but Hamas says that it is not going forward with the next schedules hostage release that was set for Saturday when three men were to be released."

STORYLINE:
A spokesperson for Hamas says it will delay the next hostage release after accusing Israel of violating a ceasefire agreement.
Israel and Hamas are in the midst of a six-week ceasefire during which Hamas has committed to releasing 33 hostages captured in its Oct. 7, 2023, attack in exchange for nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners.
The next exchange, scheduled for Saturday, called for three more Israeli hostages to be freed in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners.
Abu Obeida, the spokesperson for Hamas’ military wing, accused Israel of systematically violating the ceasefire agreement over the past three weeks.
