What is India’s perspective on current global security issues? | DW News

India is backing Donald Trump’s plans to launch peace talks with Vladimir Putin. Speaking to DW’s Richard Walker at the Munich Security Conference, BJP foreign affairs chief Vijay Chauthaiwale said New Delhi would “do whatever is required for peace” – rejecting a “blame game” over responsibilty for the war and not ruling out India contributing troops to an international force in Ukraine after any cease-fire. While the US Vice President attacked European democracies in his Munich speech, exposing a gulf in transatlantic relations, Chauthaiwale stressed the similarities between Donald Trump’s MAGA movement and Narendra Modi’s BJP in India, where Modi long ago coined the phrase “India First.” But if every nation is out for itself, are clashes in interests inevitable? Chauthaiwale concedes Trump’s decision to leave the Paris Climate Change Agreement was a “hurdle.”
