Hamas has freed three more Israeli hostages in the latest stage of the ceasefire deal with Israel. The three men, Iair Horn, Sagui Dekel Chen and Sasha Troufanov have been reunited with their families after more than 15 months in captivity. In exchange, Israel began releasing 369 Palestinian prisoners and detainees. Thirty-six of the 369 imprisoned Palestinians were serving life sentences, while the others had been arrested in the Gaza Strip after Hamas’ October 7 terror attacks and subsequently held in Israeli detention without trial. Twenty four Palestinians who had been serving life sentences are to be transferred abroad under the terms of the truce deal.
This week’s hostage and prisoner swap, which constitutes the sixth swap set out by the Israel-Hamas ceasefire deal, follows a dispute which threatened to derail the truce earlier this week.
