Major international security conference, typically featuring world leaders, foreign and defence ministers begins in Munich. New US Vice President JD Vance attends as part of his first foreign trip in post. He will be accompanied by US Foreign Secretary Marco Rubio. Vance is scheduled to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the conference that is expected to mainly focus on peace talks between Kyiv and Moscow.
President Donald Trump told reporters on Thursday, US officials will also meet Russian counterparts at the Munich conference. There were no further details about said meetings.
German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier opens the conference. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, EU High Representative Kaja Kallas; NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte; US Special Envoy for Russia and Ukraine Keith Kellogg; and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and all G7 foreign ministers are expected to attend.

– 1330 GMT Main Hall: Welcoming with remarks by President Steinmeier and State Premier Soder.
– 1400 GMT Main Hall: EU in The World with EC President Ursula von der Leyen.
– 1430 GMT Main Hall: The US in the World with US Vice-President JD Vance.
– 1500 GMT Main Hall: China in the World, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi takes part.
– 1530 GMT Main Hall: Future of US-Ukraine Security Cooperation, with President Zelenskyy. Townhall event
