STORYLINE:
Chinese President Xi Jinping met with visiting Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov on Wednesday.
Japarov is on a four-day official visit to China.
Both leaders attended a red-carpet welcome ceremony at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing before sitting down for talks.
The pair later signed a joint statement on deepening strategic partnership between China and Kyrgyzstan.
China is Kyrgyzstan’s largest trading partner as well as the largest source of imports.
China has also invested in strategic and infrastructural projects in Kyrgyzstan, including infrastructure projects such as the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway.
