STORYLINE:
South Korea’s Constitutional Court held a hearing Tuesday as part of the ongoing trial on the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol.
Yoon arrived at the court in a prison van, escorted by guard vehicles.
He has been jailed at a detention facility near Seoul since law enforcement authorities arrested him in January.
The Constitutional Court is deliberating on whether to formally dismiss or reinstate him, which can last up to 180 days.
A separate criminal trial of Yoon is scheduled to kick off in coming weeks.
Prosecutors indicted the impeached president on charges of rebellion in connection to his imposition of short-lived martial law on December 3.
