The Eleventh Winter Olympic Games will be held in Sapporo, Japan, from February 3rd to 13th 1972.
The Japanese have spent 15 billion yen ($US 41 million) on 14 ice-rinks, ski and bob-sleigh courses,
and nine times that amount on new roads and a unique subway train that runs on inflated rubber tyres.
With a population of one million, Sapporo is the largest town ever to stage the Winter Games.
It is a free and easy place with a lively night-life district full of strip-tease clubs and bars with erotic films on closed circuit TV
