STORYLINE:
Fabian Menzel on Friday was once again crowned the German stag calling champion.
The hunter from the small village of Nuedlingen in Bavaria beat a field of 11 competitors to claim the prize.
The main stage in hall 4 of the Jagd & Hund (hunt and dog) trade fair in Dortmund once again became the rutting ground for Germany’s best deer imitators. It’s Menzel’s fifth title in a row now.
The German Stag Calling Championship is considered one of the highlights of the large public fair in Dortmund, which is attracting tens of thousands of visitors to the exhibition halls until Sunday.
The finalists competed against each other in three disciplines: ‘Call of the old, searching stag’, ‘Call of the dominant male in a pack of does’ and ‘Calling duel between two equally strong stags at the height of the rut’.
The top three received a trip to the European Stag Calling Championships, which will take place in Lithuania Oct.17 – 19 2025.
