"We came here to say thank you. Thank you to the United States government and President Trump, who heads it and to the special envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, who knew how to ‘speak Trump’ in the Middle East and use all the necessary weight to get the hostages back and make the Israeli government understand, even if it was very late and at the cost of the lives of the hostages and IDF soldiers, that there was no choice but to implement the agreement, release the hostages, and end the war."

STORYLINE:
The father of Arbel Yehoud, one of the eight Israeli hostages freed by Hamas-led militants on Thursday, thanked US President Donald Trump for his efforts to facilitate the ceasefire deal Friday.

Speaking at a news conference at Sheba Medical Center, Yechi Yehoud said that his daughter is "in good health".

Arbel Yehoud was taken hostage with her boyfriend, Ariel Cunio, from Kibbutz Nir Oz in the October 7th, 2023 attack.

She was at the center of the dispute about the sequence of releases that briefly rocked the ceasefire over the weekend.

Israel said Yehoud was supposed to have been freed Saturday and delayed the opening of crossings to northern Gaza when she was not.

Mediators resolved the dispute with an agreement that Yehoud would be released Thursday, and Palestinians began returning to the north on Monday.
