"92.3 million customers went through DXB (airport) during the course of 2024. Which is not only a record for us, of course, but as the No. 1 airport in the world, it’s a new world record for international passengers through any airport in the world. And the great thing is that’s with two runways on a very limited geographical footprint, which hasn’t really changed at all."

"In the last 10 years, we’ve welcomed 700 million guests, which is more than double the population of the entire U.S."

"Interestingly, before the global pandemic, what we saw was 60% of the traffic coming through DXB was actually en route somewhere else and 40% was staying in the city. But actually, because of the way the Dubai government and the UAE government handled the response to the pandemic, it sent a very clear message to the world that this is a city where actually it’s safe, it’s attractive, the weather is, for the most part, really good, particularly through the northern European winter. And I think a lot of people took that at face value and have decided to come here."

"And the overall trend we saw reverse immediately post-COVID, where 60% of all travelers were coming to the city and 40% traveling onwards. Now what we’re seeing is a roughly 50-50 split, but it does actually move around according to the season. We had a big upsurge in the summer when obviously the weather’s very hot here, of transfer traffic. That reached over 60%. But generally, I think what this is suggesting is: Dubai as a destination has never been stronger, and that’s evidenced in our figures."

"What I’d like to see is just one facial recognition process that deals with everything, check-in, baggage, security, immigration, a bit like a really well designed railway station. You should arrive at the airport, face recognition through the gate and immediately, you are at leisure. You can shop, you can dine, you can go into a lounge. You’ve got more time, which hopefully will turn into more income for the airport and will pay for the processes and the re-engineering."
