STORYLINE:
FOOTBALL FANS WILL PACK NEW ORLEANS FOR THE 2025 SUPER BOWL BUT IF VISITORS WANT TO MAKE THE MOST OF THEIR VISIT, THEY’LL HAVE TO DO SOME EXPLORING OUTSIDE OF DOWNTOWN.
SOUNDBITE (English) Susan Spicer, Executive Chef, Rosedale:
"What sets New Orleans apart a little bit is that you know that neighborhood restaurant culture."
CHEF SUSAN SPICER HAS TAKEN HER LOUISIANA-INSPIRED CUISINE TO SUPER BOWL HOST CITIES ACROSS THE COUNTRY DURING THE PAST THREE DECADES WHILE PARTICIPATING IN THE TASTE OF THE NFL CHARITY EVENT.
SHE’S INVOLVED AGAIN THIS MONTH IN HER HOMETOWN, BUT THOSE WHO WANT TO EAT CHEF SPICER’S FOOD WILL HAVE TO VENTURE OUTSIDE DOWNTOWN TO A NEIGHBORHOOD CALLED LAKEVIEW.
SOUNDBITE (English) Susan Spicer, Executive Chef, Rosedale:
"In my mind it’s a casual restaurant with a fine dining mentality."
SHE SAYS EACH NEIGHBORHOOD OF NEW ORLEANS PROVIDES A DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE FOR OUT-OF-TOWNERS.
SOUNDBITE (English) Susan Spicer, Executive Chef, Rosedale:
"There’s so much concentrated in the French Quarter and you know the CBD and the warehouse district that you can just really get absorbed by everything that’s going on there but if you just venture out a little bit you know, take the streetcar way Uptown and to Carrollton Avenue, there’s a lot to discover."
SOUNDBITE (English) Drew Drees, New Orleans Legend:
"There’s nothing I loved more than used to be just kind of you know driving down Saint Charles, walking down Saint Charles or jogging down Saint Charles and you got the streetcars going by. You got the big beautiful oak trees that probably have beads hanging on them."
