STORYLINE:
Five Thai agricultural workers who were kidnapped on October 7, 2023 arrived at Shamir Medical Center, outside of Tel Aviv on Thursday, after being released by Hamas-led militants in Gaza.
They were met at the facility by Thailand’s ambassador to Israel, Pannabha Chandraramya.
The five were among eight hostages released on Thursday and 31 Thais taken in total by militants on October 7, of whom 23 have already been released.
Another two have been confirmed dead, and the status of one remaining person is not clear.
Chandraramya said the Thai government had notified the families of all six surviving Thai hostages, because they were not sure which five would be released.
The Shamir Medical Center, outside of Tel Aviv, has a number of Thai-speaking social workers and psychologists to assist the hostages being released.
