10. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Ismail al-Turk, Shuafat resident:
"There are many workers in these international organisations like 50-55,000 workers, all between schools, medical facilities, social services, and teaching, so where do they want them to go? The Palestinian Authority isn’t taking them on, the Jerusalem municipality isn’t either, and neither is the Knesset, in fact, taking on this responsibility. There will be impoverishment. There will be hunger among these people."

20. UNRWA spokesperson, Jonathan Fowler, leaving building
21. SOUNDBITE (English) Jonathan Fowler, UNRWA spokesperson:
"And what does this mean for those thousands of people who live there (Gaza), whose lives are already very difficult? If you suddenly gut the education and healthcare that they benefit from, I mean the social stability implications there will also be very, very serious. Again, I don’t want to predict the future, but you know, anybody who knows anything about this region, or indeed any society knows if you remove those basics that are foundation stones, you don’t do anything for social stability."
22. Fowler speaking
23. SOUNDBITE (English) Jonathan Fowler, UNRWA spokesperson:
"You know, if UNRWA is removed from the picture, that’s allowed to happen, that creates huge problems for the outlook for this region in terms of social stability but also the political symbolism of it. It’s perhaps a stepping stone on the road to then unilaterally negating the rights of refugees but that’s not something that can just be done like that. But it also creates an appalling precedent for other places around the world and that’s a huge risk."
