(Reporter: "It’s been a challenging couple of weeks. I wonder what it means for you to be here at Sundance."
"Yeah, I mean, it has been. I mean, it’s been a challenging year for some of us, but we’re here, and I’m so excited for people to see this film. I couldn’t be prouder to stand next to Bill and Tona and Diego in this movie. And I think it’s what the world really kind of needs right now. It’s a story about love and it’s about accepting people for who they are and how love can kind of cure any divide. And I’m just excited. I’m excited for people to to see it."

"I didn’t really know any, I had never seen ‘Kiss of the Spider Woman’ onstage. I never had seen the movie from the 80s. And so my first introduction to it was the script that was sent to me. And when I heard it, when I read it, I was just like, I can’t believe it. I was, I was laughing. I was crying. I was reading it out loud. And I knew it was something like I had been waiting for my whole life, like a role like this, you know, not just, you know, this really kind of who Aurora and Ingrid Luna and the Spider Woman were. But also just like the singing and dancing and being able to play that I always imagined being in those old Hollywood movies. That’s what made me want to do what I do. So it was very exciting for me."

(Reporter: "You know, you’re such a seasoned producer at this point, and we’re here at Sundance celebrating independent cinema. Is there a difference when you have like, I mean, I’m sure there is, but can you talk about it."
"Yeah. There’s a big difference when you have like studio money behind you and then you just like trudging along and like, you know, this is a passion project and you’re scraping every dime together and you’re cutting scenes because you don’t have the money to shoot them. And, you know, all kinds of things like that. And it’s like, no, we have to, what are we going to do? Who are we going to call? You know, it’s like that type of thing. It’s a very different experience. Yes."

STORYLINE:
Jennifer Lopez premiered her upcoming musical drama, "Kiss of the Spider Woman," at the Sundance Film Festival on Sunday.
Lopez, who stars in and executive produced the film, said there is a "big difference when you have studio money behind you" compared to working on films with a smaller budget.
"This is a passion project and you’re scraping every dime together and you’re cutting scenes because you don’t have the money to shoot them," she said.
The film, which was directed by Bill Condon, is an adaptation of the 1976 novel of the same name.
The Sundance premiere comes just weeks after wildfires devastated Los Angeles.
"It’s been a challenging year for some of us, but we’re here, and I’m so excited for people to see this film. I couldn’t be prouder," she said. "I think it’s what the world really kind of needs right now. It’s a story about love and it’s about accepting people for who they are and how love can kind of cure any divide."
