How Martin Luther King Jr. Was Haunted by An Attempted Assassination

In September 1958, while promoting his first book at a Harlem, New York, bookstore Martin Luther King Jr was stabbed in the chest by a woman with a letter opener. The woman, a housekeeper named Izola Curry, was a quickly restrained by people at the event and held her until police arrived.Dr. King may have physically recovered from the attack, which was the first assassination attempt on his life, however, he never emotionally recovered and it haunted him until his final days. In his final speech, given on April 3, 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee, Dr. King spoke of the attack.
