STORYLINE:
On a chilly Tuesday evening in Paris, celebrities including Bradley Cooper, Victor Wembanyama and Omar Sy made their way across the main courtyard of the Louvre museum to the Cour Carrée, where Louis Vuitton presented its men’s fall-winter 2025 collection.
The collection brought together two separate talents: Vuitton menswear creative director Pharrell Williams, and NIGO, the artistic director of Kenzo menswear. The two first met in 2003, the same year each one launched his own streetwear brand.
NIGO’s vast archives of 20th-century workwear informed the collection, which mixed Pharrell’s American streetwear-inspired designs with NINO’s looser silhouettes and Japanese craftsmanship. Codes came from both streetwear and dandyism, with nods to suiting, workwear and sportswear. Cropped cuts and leathers brought a casual feel to traditional tailoring.
Japanese techniques, such as shippo weaving, updated House icons such as the flower emblem, while the cherry blossom pink of Japanese sakura brightened denim workwear and the Speedy bag. Camouflage, a streetwear standby, was over-embroidered with beads and sequins, or presented as a tapestry jacquard. Three new bag motifs included a damier "Phriendship" bag with silhouettes of the two designers’ profiles.
Called "Remember the Future," the collection was meant to be a conversation between friends, and also between past and future. The set, by Wonderwall, took that idea one step further, with a ring of vitrines displaying decades of house archives.
