3. SOUNDBITE (English) Majid al-Ansari, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson:
"It’s the fact that children can go out in Gaza, enjoy the sun, look into the sky and not see rockets raining down upon them, but see the hope in a better future – this is what fills us with confidence that this deal would continue. And that said, all of us have to work collectively. And I cannot stress this enough, the international community can’t take this deal for granted. We have to work together in the international community, all of us, to make sure that both sides understand that it is the will of the international community for this deal to continue and for sustainable peace to be reached in Gaza."

5. SOUNDBITE (English) Majid al-Ansari, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson:
"The ceasefire stands as long as the negotiations are ongoing and we will push as much as possible for the deal on phase 2 to be completed as soon as possible in order to not reach a situation where we might have some difficulties in guiding the implementation beyond the 42nd day. But obviously, the main responsibility is of the parties. Our goal is to push as much possible, and we will do. We are already preparing the groundwork for the talks on the 16th and we are quite optimistic that we will be able to push it forward."

7. SOUNDBITE (English) Majid al-Ansari, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson:
"We believe that the administration through all the communication we are having with them and the engagement that we are having with them – that they believe in this deal, that they want peace in Gaza and that they want an end to hostilities over there and that they believe that this deal is a way to do that. And we are engaging with them positively on that. I can’t comment on the specific wording used by President (Donald) Trump, but I can tell you that we are engaging positively with the administration and we view positively the administration’s involvement in the deal right now."

9. SOUNDBITE (English) Majid al-Ansari, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson:
"Our position on normalisation is very clear. Whenever there is a pan-Arab decision, whenever there is a Palestinian… whenever the Palestinian issue has been addressed and our brothers in Palestine have a state to call their own and can live side by side with Israel, this is the time when we discuss normalisation. But now, we are in a phase where we are talking about the end of this war and we are seeing very damning reports coming from the West Bank regarding Israel’s activities as an occupier in these regions. And therefore, we think that the priority should be given now to stabilising the situation, to making sure that this deal leads to a sustainable peace in Gaza."
