"This is a selection of (work by) prominent Iranian artists in the field of printmaking, and another section is dedicated to international master artists. A total of 218 works by 218 artists have made it to the annual exchange."

"Artistic printing or printmaking, rather than being an independent art, is somehow close to painting. The artist tries to present their ideas and creativity with printmaking techniques. This creates a visual game, which creates some special appeal thanks to the variety of techniques used by artists."

"For example, when visitors see works by Edvard Munch, Salvador Dali, (Pablo) Picasso, René Magritte, Paul Cezanne and Claude Monet in person, they both get familiar with the interesting world of printmaking, and the subtlety in the works of foreign artists can sometimes be inspiring for Iranian artists."

STORYLINE:
Tehran’s Laleh Art Gallery is showcasing printmaking works by international and Iranian artists, shedding light on an often overlooked art form.
Works by giants such as Pablo Picasso and Claude Monet are on display along with creations by Iranian artists.
"The subtlety in the works of foreign artists can sometimes be inspiring for Iranian artists," said Mohammad Ali Saeedi who organized the show.
Printmaking is a process where artists transfer their designs or images from a surface made of metal or wood onto another surface, giving the artist the chance to create multiple identical copies.
"The artist tries to present their ideas and creativity with printmaking techniques. This creates a visual game, which creates some special appeal," Saeedi said.
This year’s exhibition, titled the 10th annual handprint exchange, is running until Jan. 19.
The show features an exchange program, where some works are randomly selected and exchanged with other artists.
Out of a total of 300 works on display, 218 have made it to the exchange sections.
Printmaking works are usually made in multiple editions, but 50 works were offered as single copies.
The show organizer says the event is aimed at encouraging enthusiasts to purchase and collect printmaking works at reasonable prices to promote this type of art.
