(10 Mar 1977) RR7710A UGANDA REPORT
The recent deaths in Uganda of the Anglican Archbishop
of Uganda and two former government ministers have
shocked the world. The Uganda authorities claim the
three men, under arrest for alleged rebellion, had died
in a car crash after they tried to escape by overpowering
the driver. This report backgrounds the issue, with
interviews with the driver and his doctor, shots of the
accident site, etc. Also included are interviews with
President Amin on the more general allegations of massacre
laid against him and also on his determination to come to
London in June to attend the Commonwealth Prime Ministers
Conference and Queen Elizabeth’s Jubilee celebrations.
