STORYLINE:
A four-month-old Palestinian baby was among four people killed in an Israeli airstrike on central Gaza early on Wednesday.

The bodies of the child, a woman and two men were brought to the al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, where they were counted by an Associated Press journalist.

Gaza’s Health Ministry said a three-week-old baby was also killed in an airstrike in Gaza City’s Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, taking the overnight death toll to at least five.

In Khan Younis, mourners prayed over the bodies of some of the 17 people killed in strikes late on Tuesday, which included eight children and five women.

"I swear she had nothing to do with anything," cried Mayson Abu al-Qomsan as she kneeled over the bodies of her sister and her children.

Israel’s air and ground offensive has killed over 45,800 Palestinians, according to the Health Ministry.

It does not say how many were fighters, but says women and children make up over half the fatalities.

The war began when Hamas-led militants stormed into southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, killing some 1,200 people and abducting around 250.

Some 100 hostages are still inside Gaza, at least a third of whom are believed to be dead.
