STORYLINE:
Washington DC metropolitan is walloped by winter snowstorm as Congress certifies the 2024 presidential election and prepares former President Jimmy Carter to lie in state.
Snow removal continues on major roadways and around notable DC tourist attractions like the U.S. Capitol, White House, Washington Monument, and the Washington National Cathedral where a state funeral service for former President Carter is set to occur.
Authorities are asking the public not to travel on the roadways unless absolutely necessary in order to allow crews to continue clearing roadways as more snow falls.
