"It’s a humbling experience to be bestowed this huge honour from His Majesty the King. We lost my dad more than 20 years ago and I was with my mum yesterday when the news became public, and she was quite emotional. Both mum and dad worked incredibly hard until they retired and to see one of their children be bestowed with this honour is is a big deal for them, because they’re migrants to this country. They’ve worked really hard, made massive sacrifices. And, you know, my mum is not an emotional person, but she’s in cloud nine and I’m pleased for her."

"Well, I’ve been checking my phone every 10 minutes, looking at the weather forecast, looking at the wind. I know more about the wind now than I’d want to know. But we’re scheduled to have a great fireworks display tonight. These New Year’s Eve fireworks, the biggest in Europe. We’ve been working on this since July. We have 145,000 fireworks, a great lights display. We’ve had a crew working here since the 27th of December, night and day. I personally I’ve ever seen the soundtrack for tonight. And I think it’s going to be a great fireworks display that Londoners on the embankment, more than a hundred thousand, those watching across the country, across the globe are going to really enjoy. "

"For the first time ever, we’ve got a light display using a gauze on the London Eye. That’s the first of its kind that’s been used. STORYLINE:
London Mayor Sadiq Khan has said London’s New Year’s fireworks display will be the biggest in Europe.
High winds and rain were expected to sweep across Britain’s capital during the event.
But that did not dampen the mayor’s excitement, and he predicted London was scheduled to have "a great fireworks display".
The fireworks display has been in planning since July and will see 145,000 fireworks light up the London skyline.
Khan also spoke of his mother”s admiration for his New Year’s knighthood.
The three-time elected mayor said she was "not an emotional person, but she’s in cloud nine and I’m pleased for her."
