(12 Jun 1981) One year ago Fidel Castro released or expelled 125,000 Cubans, including criminals and other social undesirables. Most have tried to integrate into the huge Cuban exile population in Miami, Florida. Many have joined
paramilitary groups which dream of invading Cuba and overthrowing Castro. Since President Reagan’s inauguration, there has been a general increase in tension between Washington and Havana, with Castro accused of exporting revolution and Reagan of war-mongering. And if another Cuba crisis were to arise, the guerrilla exiles would eagerly adopt the mantle of the shock troops of the counter-revolution.
