"I mean, I’m interested in making art and I’m interested in taking ideas to the places which they are able to flex, you know, flex whatever medium that they should best be flexed in. And so if an opportunity comes about to make a film that is a – quote unquote – Hollywood film that, like, really speaks to something that I’d like to say or something I’d like to explore, I’m definitely down. I think it’s really interesting that I got asked almost once a week and for a while, for, like, months, like once a day to, like, adapt someone’s film or make a film after I made ‘Hale County This Morning, This Evening.’ And the only meeting I ever took was Dede and Jeremy’s (producers Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner). Just because, you know, like most people’s films are not for me. And Dede made ‘Tree of Life,’ which I say all the time. And that is my lodestar, and here we are. So I’m sure the opportunity will come about, but I don’t think it’ll be soon."
