German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has arrived in Syria, following former leader Bashar al-Assad’s removal from power.
She and her French counterpart Jean-Noël Barrot will represent the European Union in talks with the new transitional government and its Islamist rebel leader Ahmed al-Sharaa. Baerbock is expected to outline the EU’s conditions for resuming relations with Syria.
