"Hopefully, (Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin) Netanyahu is not going to torpedo this hostage deal, the same he’s done for the last year. Each time that there was a hostage deal, there was a deal on the table, he torpedoed it, and each time with another spin. Now we are before winter – not before, we are in winter, and they are not going to survive. And we need two things: first of all, to stop the war in Gaza, and second, to bring them all back with a hostage deal."

5. SOUNDBITE (English) Zahiro Mor, nephew of killed Israeli hostage Avraham Munder:
"We are asking again from President Trump (US President elect Donald Trump), sir, please don’t let Netanyahu fool you. The only way to end this, the only way to end this regional war, is to go for a hostage deal with a ceasefire. We cannot win all the world. Yesterday was Hezbollah, today it’s the Houthis in Yemen, tomorrow it’s Iran, and maybe after that we’ll go all the way to Afghanistan. We need to stop this."

STORYLINE:
Demonstrators took to the streets of Tel Aviv again on Saturday to join a weekly protest demanding Israel’s government agree a ceasefire and a deal to return the hostages still held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

Rallies have taken place in Israel’s largest city each weekend amid the war ignited by Hamas’ attack on southern Israeli on October 7, 2023, which killed around 1,200 people.

Some of the 250 people who were kidnapped in the attack have now spent more than 14 months in captivity.

Amid recent media reports that a deal is close to being agreed, the protesters held a banner declaring they wanted "actions not miracles".

Yifat Calderon, the cousin of hostage Ofer Calderon, said she hoped Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would not "torpedo" these negotiations.

"The only way to end this, the only way to end this regional war, is to go for hostage deal with a ceasefire," added Zahiro Mor, the nephew of hostage of Avraham Munder, whose death in captivity was announced in August.

The war has killed more than 45,400 Palestinians, over half of them women and children, and wounded more than 108,000 others, according to the Health Ministry in Gaza.

Its count does not distinguish between civilians and combatants.
