I got chills down my spine, took my breath away. I was like ‘oh’, it was pretty cool. Pope Francis, I think he’s a down to earth guy. He’s a really good guy. I really like him."

She even brought this beautiful baby Jesus for me from Bolivia. And it was really beautiful, the opening. How the Pope is receiving all of us. And you know, also, when they were showing a baby Jesus, it really made me center again to what is the real importance of Christmas."

STORYLINE:
Pope Francis kicked off the 2025 Holy Year on Tuesday, inaugurating a celebration of the Catholic Church that is expected to draw some 32 million pilgrims to Rome.
Hundreds of pilgrims gathered at the Vatican, braving the cold weather to watch the ceremony from a distance and on wide screens in St. Peter’s Square.
"When I’ve seen the doors open, it was amazing" said 25-year old John Farrell from Pennsylvania.
"I flew over here, I got here today just to see this, and I want to walk through the Holy Door. It was amazing. I got chills down my spine, took my breath away," he added.

Pope Francis has dedicated the 2025 Jubilee to the theme of hope, and he will underscore that message when he opens a Holy Door on Thursday at Rome’s Rebibbia Prison in a bid to give inmates hope for a better future.
Francis has long incorporated prison ministry into his priestly vocation and has made several visits to Rebibbia and other prisons during his travels.
This week, Francis celebrates Christmas Eve Mass on Tuesday evening and then delivers his annual “Urbi et Orbi” (to the city and the world) speech on Christmas Day from the loggia of St. Peter’s Basilica.
In addition to the outing at Rebibbia, he will celebrate New Year’s Eve vespers and a New Year’s Day Mass.
