Jimmy Carter’s life and legacy after the US presidency | BBC News

President Biden has said that a National Day of Mourning will be held on 9 January, for former US president Jimmy Carter, who has died at the age of 100. There will be a state funeral held for him.

Carter was the only US president to earn the Nobel Peace Prize for his post-presidency work, which he was awarded in 2002.

The former US president spoke with BBC World News America’s Katty Kay in 2014 about Russia’s annexation of Crimea, how he reacted to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan and his post-presidency work for women’s rights.
