6. SOUNDBITE (English) Colonel Abdallah Halabi, head of Gaza aid:
"We are in the Kerem Shalom crossing, especially in the Gazan side of Kerem Shalom crossing. We have here more than 800 trucks of the international community, eight that (are) coming from different places around the world with different routes and get to Kerem Shalom, checked and inspected in Kerem Shalom, and delivered to the Gazan side. This huge amount of aid is waiting for the international community to be picked up from here and to delivered to the people of Gaza."

8. SOUNDBITE (English) Colonel Abdallah Halabi head of Gaza aid:
"We didn’t see a looting problem in different roads. Some of the aid has been taken by civilians on the road, but there is not a looting problem in the last several weeks, and evidence of that that we have more than 200 trucks coming in every day, and I will emphasize that more and more."

10. SOUNDBITE (English) Colonel Olivier Rafowicz, Military spokesman:
"The main interest of Israel, the idea is to let in the humanitarian assistance get into the Gaza Strip to go to the people of Gaza. We are not in a war against the Palestinian people, we are in a war against Hamas. And for months and months Hamas was actually preventing this assistance to be collected and to be distributed. Lately there is an improvement and the State of Israel and the IDF are doing everything to improve and to let more trucks, more equipment, more assistance to get into the Gaza Strip."

STORYLINE:
As the war in Gaza drags into its 15th month, humanitarian aid is still stuck at crossings entering the besieged territory, the director of Israel’s military body in charge of aid said Friday.
The military showed reporters the Gaza side of the Kerem Shalom crossing, the main aid crossing into Gaza, where Col. Abdallah Halabi said 800 trucks of aid await pickup by international organizations and the UN.
As rights groups warn that famine may already be occurring in Gaza, both the UN and Israel blame each other for the difficulties persisting in aid distribution.
The UN says Israel is not doing enough to protect truck drivers from armed gangs waiting along the route into Gaza, who are looting the aid.
Halabi Thursday denied that looting was a problem and said that international organizations needed more manpower and trucks at the crossings.
