2. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Osama Lubbad, displaced resident from Beit Lahiya:
"What does (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu want more from the blood of the Palestinian people? I mean 45,000 martyrs, in addition to the people who are still under the rubble and have not been recovered, buried under rubble and their bodies decomposed. What does he want? We tell the world this is enough. Enough with this genocide and enough with this war."
3. Various of children playing near tents
4. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Alaa Hamouda, displaced resident from Gaza:
"There is a lot of killing, a lot of death and a lot of victims. We are not at fault. We have nothing to do with everything that is happening to us. We did not do any wrong in order for this to happen to us. Today, there are 45,000 martyrs. When will the war end? After they get rid of all the people? How many people will be left? What specifically do they want from us? Innocent people die who aren’t connected (to what is happening), children, women, babies. A boy is born and two or three days later, we find him as a victim."

6. SOUNDITE (Arabic) Mohammad Sulaiman, displaced resident from Gaza City:
"It is a setback. These include scientists, doctors, engineers and leaders. People’s lives have been destroyed. Gaza has died. It has died without a shroud."

STORYLINE:
Palestinians in the Gaza Strip lamented the bloodshed and loss of lives in the enclave as the death toll from Israel-Hamas war tops 45,000 people.
"We tell the world this is enough. Enough with this genocide and enough with this war," said Osama Lubbad, who was displaced from Beit Lahiya.
Palestinian health officials said Monday that the death toll in the Gaza Strip from the 14-month war between Israel and Hamas militants has topped 45,000 people.
The Gaza Health Ministry does not distinguish between civilians and combatants in its count, but it has said that more than half of the fatalities are women and children.
The Israeli military says it has killed more than 17,000 militants, without providing evidence.
The Health Ministry said 45,028 people have been killed and 106,962 have been wounded since the start of the war in October 2023.
It has said the real toll is higher because thousands of bodies are still buried under rubble or in areas that medics cannot access.
The latest war has been by far the deadliest round of fighting between Israel and Hamas, with the death toll now amounting to roughly 2% of Gaza’s entire prewar population of about 2.3 million.
"Gaza has died. It has died without a shroud," said Mohammad Sulaiman, who was displaced from Gaza City.
Israel claims Hamas is responsible for the civilian death toll because it operates from within civilian areas in the densely populated Gaza Strip.
Rights groups and Palestinians say Israel has failed to take sufficient precautions to avoid civilian deaths.
The war began when Hamas-led militants stormed into southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, killing some 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and abducting another 250.
Around 100 hostages are still inside Gaza, at least a third of whom are believed to be dead.
Most of the rest were released during a ceasefire last year.
